The Women's Civic League Inc. participates in Baltimore events, promotes the city, and raises funds to maintain the historic residence
of Baltimore's second mayor, Thorowgood Smith (1804-08). Please "drop us a line" to learn how you can help us help our city preserve and maintain one of Baltimore's few remaining houses from the 18th Century. By fall, we will have updated our new website with more content. Pictured above are the membership and volunteers attending the League's annual "Day at the Races." The WCL sponsored the 4th race for many years and the winning jockey received a gift to commemorate their victory.
Thorowgood Smith served as the Mayor of Baltimore City from 1804-08 and lived at 9 N. Front St. Baltimore, Md. 21202 currently the headquarters of the Women's Civic League Inc..
